The phone in your classroom or office is generally programmed for that space and moving the phone to a new location could cause issues. If you need to move a phone for any reason (even if you are moving it to another location in your space and need to plug it into a different wall port) you should put in a ticket through the web portal and select Technology Support > Phone/Fax/Intercom > Phones.
Be sure to include the following information in your ticket:
The name you want to display on the phone. This is standardized for most situations but you can always try for something different.
The current extension for the phone in your new space. If you don’t know the extension, you can provide the MAC address from the underside of the phone. This will be a 12 character alpha-numeric string from the white sticker with a barcode on it.
If there currently isn’t a phone in your space, mention that in your ticket and we’ll be in touch to get more information from you.
If you are moving but think you will be keeping the current extension, please do not move your phone to a new location until you have checked in with IT and have confirmation from us.
